Teams: Anderson, Anderson Preparatory Academy, Blue River Valley, Daleville, Eastern Hancock, Knightstown, Lapel, Lawrence North, Liberty Christian, Mt. Vernon, New Castle, Pendleton Heights, Shenandoah.
Last season: Mt. Vernon (106 points) finished third overall behind Lawrence North and Anderson, respectively. Eastern Hancock was sixth with 33.5 points. Current Royals’ senior Reece Burkhart was third in the shot put and sixth in the discus throw last season, while Marauders junior Damari Gatewood was third in the long jump. Mt. Vernon seniors Nathan Casler and Mark Lough were first and second in the high jump.
Who to watch: Reece Burkhart, Jayson Bowers, Skyler Schrope, Devyn Brinson, Gabe Blake, Alvaro Cosmen Valero, Corbin Jennings, Will Huffman, Andrew Bluethmann, Damari Gatewood, Blake Miller, Nathan Casler, Mark Lough, Jailin Porter, Donovan Bigelow, Brent Donaldson, Nathan Seifert.
Regional: Those who advance past the sectional will head to the North Central Regional next week.
Notes: Mt. Vernon was second at the Hancock County meet and Eastern Hancock was fourth. The Marauders were third at the Hoosier Heritage Conference meet behind New Palestine and Pendleton Heights.
Warren Central Sectional, Thursday 5:30 p.m.
Teams: Beech Grove, Central Christian Academy, Franklin Central, Greenfield-Central, Indianapolis Howe, Indianapolis Lutheran, Indianapolis Marshall, Indianapolis Scecina, Morristown, New Palestine, Roncalli, Shelbyville, Triton Central, Warren Central, Whiteland Community.
Last season: Whiteland Community won the Whiteland Community Sectional (same teams) with 127 points. New Palestine was fifth with 60 points, while Greenfield-Central was seventh with 32. The Dragons 3,200-meter relay team finished in first last season, while current senior Brady Walden was second in the 100-meter dash. Walden was also fifth in the long jump and senior Chase Crowder was second in the 1,600-meter run. Cougars’ distance runner Jacob Hansen, a senior, was fourth in the 3,200-meter and junior Cooper Hanson was second in the 800-meter.

Notes: New Palestine won both the Hancock County and Hoosier Heritage Conference meets this season. Greenfield-Central was third at county and seventh at HHC.
