Paul George has been traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder, as reported by ESPN’s Romona Shelburne.
The Indiana Pacers will receive Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis.
Victor Oladipo is familiar with the state of Indiana as he spent 2010-13 playing under Tom Crean at Indiana University. He was selected second overall in the 2013 Draft by the Orlando Magic. Oladipo was traded on draft night last summer to the Oklahoma City Thunder and spent the 2016-17 season.
Oladipo, shooting guard, averaged 15.9 points per game, 4.3 rebounds per game and 2.6 assists per game while playing next to the 2016-17 NBA MVP, Russell Westbrook.
Domantas Sobonis, power forward, was a rotation player for the Oklahoma City Thunder this past season. He played roughly 20 minutes per game and contributed an average of 5.9 PPG and 3.6 RPG
My 2017-18 Projected Starting Lineup (before Free Agency)
PG – Lance Stephenson
SG – Victor Oladipo
SF – Glenn Robinson III
PF – Thaddeus Young
C – Myles Turner
This appears to be one of the better offers that the Indiana Pacers’ front office was presented with. But it is clear that the Oklahoma City Thunder are the winners in this situation.
The Thunder will receive one of the best two way players in today’s NBA in Paul George. Although it may only be a one year rental, it starts to make things interesting in the Western Conference.
George will provide the much needed help to Russell Westbrook and the Thunder to become a real contender.
The Thunder finished as the seventh seed, 47-35, this past year in the Western Conference.
My OKC Thunder 2017 Projected Starting Lineup (before Free Agency)
